Saving a child is easier than you would imagine…It can take as little as 45 minutes…It can cost as little as $250…It turns despair into hope…And saves the life of a child forever! Will you help save the life of a child with a cleft?
Today, millions of children in developing countries suffer with cleft lip and palate. Clefts happen when the root of the mouth or the top lip (or both) doesn’t close properly during pregnancy. The result is a hole that is both unsightly and very harmful to the child’s development.
Many children with clefts are abandoned at birth…others die from disease or malnutrition because their cleft makes it impossible to eat properly to receive nutrition…but each of these children could be saved with a simple surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes…and can cost as little as $250.
Since 1999, Smile Train supporters have given more than 265,000 children a second chance at life by giving them free cleft surgery. And with just one simple gift, you can help save a child’s life, too!
We have decided to support this wonderful project of turning despair into hope…and tears into smiles! That’s why we will donate part of our service fee to The Smile Train foundation starting by donating $250 that will cover the cost of one complete surgery to save a life forever!
If you are interested in donating $25, $50, $125 or $250 yourself please visit their web site www.SmileTrain.org for more information about their wonderful work and how to donate online. A donation of $25 covers the cost of sutures for one cleft surgery…$50 covers the cost of anesthesia…$125 to pay half the cost of one surgery…or a most generous donation of $250 that covers the cost of one complete surgery to save a child forever.
Join me in fighting poverty!
Hi,
I've just signed the ONE Declaration committing myself to help fight the emergency of global diseases and extreme poverty.
I'm asking you to make that commitment, too, by adding your voice.
I think your name belongs on that declaration, too. You can put it there by visiting:

ONE is a new effort by Americans to rally Americans - one by one. So far, over two million have signed the declaration in support of a historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world.
Together as ONE we can make a difference!
Thanks!

ONE - one percent more of the federal budget - for the poorest countries.
About ONE
ONE is Americans of all beliefs and every walk of life - united as ONE - to help make poverty history.
I am a member and together we are a campaign of over 2.4 million people and growing from all 50 states and over 100 of America's most well-known and respected non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. As ONE, we are raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries. As ONE, we are asking our leaders to do more to fight the emergency of global diseases and extreme poverty. ONE believes that allocating more of the U.S. budget toward providing basic needs like health, education, clean water and food would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the world's poorest countries.
ONE is nonpartisan; there's only one side in the fight against global diseases and extreme poverty. Working on the ground in communities, colleges and churches across the United States, ONE members both educate and ask America's leaders to increase efforts to fight global diseases and extreme poverty, from the U.S. budget and presidential elections to specific legislation on debt cancellation, increasing effective international assistance, making trade fair, and fighting corruption. Everyone can join the fight. The goal of ending poverty may seem lofty, but it is within our reach if we take action together as one. You can start now by joining ONE and pledging your voice to the fight against extreme poverty and global diseases.

Bono, lead singer of U2 and co-founder of The ONE Campaign and (PRODUCT) RED, meets with Deloy, a 14-year-old boy living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who lost both of his parents to HIV/AIDS. Deloy receives help from a health care facility called PASADA, which is funded in part by contributions to The Global Fund and PEPFAR. Bono is lending his voice to the American Idol IDOL GIVES BACK effort, a music celebration raising awareness and funds to benefit various U.S. and international advocacy and aid organizations.
Dear Friend,
I want to tell you about an organization that I truly believe in - Children International. For some time I have sponsored an amazing child through this organization. I have gotten to know, understand and trust this nonprofit and their solution to end child poverty.
Imagine....
Today in a squatter community outside Calcutta, India, a young boy will walk barefoot burdened with a bucket of water, unable to go to school because his family's thirst trumps the need to read.
And a little girl in the slums of Lusaka, Zambia, will suffer from dehydration, because she was not able to see a doctor and receive medication to alleviate something as treatable as diarrhea.
You can do something about it, today!
I'm so passionate about Children International's one-to-one sponsorship solution that I have created my own webpage to help connect sponsors to more children in need.
Please take a look at Children International, and I urge you, if you can - make the leap and become a sponsor yourself!
It's life changing for everyone involved.
Please visit my Lift One Project website and support my efforts to help more children in need.
Many Thanks
P.S. You can do something about it; you really can! Do it today.
